The Couples Ministry is a component of the Family Ministry of Francis Burns United Methodist Church.
Its mission is to provide opportunities for husbands and wives in our faith community to create, nurture and sustain Godly relationships through becoming and remaining one in love, spirit, and purpose. To accomplish this mission, the ministry committee plans activities throughout the year.
The goals of the Couples Ministry are:
- To encourage couples to keep Christ at the center of their marriages.
- To provide quarterly training seminars and/or workshops.
- To sponsor the annual marriage enrichment retreat held each February.
- To encourage fellowship among married couples.
- To provide opportunities for couples to share their experiences and serve as mentors.
- To implement activities/programs that will enhance and/or strengthen marriages.
- To portray positive images of married couples.
The Ministry was started in 2003 with the idea of planning a Marriage Retreat. The first retreat was held in February 2004 and since has become an annual affair. The excitement of the retreat continues throughout the year with fellowship sessions that are open to all members of the Church community.
